As a follow up to the first episode of the Purposed For This Series I thought it would be great to expound a bit on trusting God's process. As you walk in purpose, there will be times when it seems as though God isn't with you, as if He has completely left you out to dry. My question to you is do you know what it means to trust God? Do you trust God? And if you do how much? Are you only trusting him with certain things but not so much with others?
Let's talk about it.
First, let's define trust. What is trust? According to my dictionary:
Def: reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence. In this case, God.
Now, when I hear the word process I immediately think of the steps it takes to make (mold) something. For instance, there is a process to making wine. You start with the grapes being harvested, crushed/pressed, fermented, clarification and then aging and bottling. Applied in the spiritual, like the grapes, we go through times of crushing and pressing (losing a job, failing that test, a break up etc) and it feels like the entire world is on our shoulders. But that's not the end of the process; after the pressing and crushing comes clarification.
What is clarification: The process, natural or induced, whereby ‘unwanted’ suspended particles are removed from a wine and it subsequently becomes ‘clear’. Wow, the removing of "unwanted" particles that becomes clear after. For us, that means during the process there will be a removing of unwanted things: guilt, shame, lust, anger and the list could go on but you get the gist. One of our main goals daily should be to look more like God. Others should see God when they look at you "Your hearts and minds must be made completely new, and you must put on the new self, which is created in God's likeness - Ephesians 4:23-24
So the processing makes us pure; like Christ.
Now spiritually, clarification may take a while. You'll probably wonder and question "Why is this happening to me"... "Why me God take it away". You might think it's the plan of the enemy. But what if those situations are just a part of your process; part of your molding to become what He's called you to be? Have you considered that? The God that I know will use your process to bring about purpose.
So trusting God with the process means completely relying on Him to work in all situations, all your feelings, all your bad days, all your good days, all your confusion and believing that it will all work for you.
There is a scripture that says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding but in ALLL your ways acknowledge him and he will direct you path. Simply put there will come a time when you're going to have to completely rely on God. I like to call those times "valley moments". They don't last forever but while you're in them your trust has to outweigh the bad days, the rainy days and the days when you're just about over it. Don't try to understand it; don't try to figure it out, just keep Him at the fore front and you will see the beauty that will come out at the end. Your process makes way for purpose. Just trust Him.
